A Turkish-Palestinian Talent Creating Highly Artistic China Sets
July 27, 2017 admin

Nimerology is a luxury tableware brand started by Nour Al Nimer, a half-Turkish half-Palestinian artist who grew up between Beirut and London. “When I was at Central Saint Martins, I came across a surface design course and realised that this kind of art surrounds us on a daily basis,” says the 32-year-old. “Yet, surface design hasn’t received the recognition it deserves, especially as it’s an artform that has the power to enhance our lives continually.”

This is perhaps why Al Nimer is devoting her life to it, studying Surface Print Design at the London College of Communication before completing her training at the famed Chelsea College of Arts, with an MA in Fine Arts. She then founded her eponymous brand of bone china wares in London in 2012, before relocating it to Istanbul in 2015 (although the fabrication remains in Britain). Her latest collection – ‘I’m Off To Join The Circus’ – was developed for an Architectural Digest ‘Art of Dining’ event in Beirut and features a playful array of kaleidoscopic dinner plates, streaming charger plates, as well as some acrobatic salad plates that are all beautiful in their own right but, when combined, show that they’re greater than the sum of their parts.
