Opened this past May, Cheetah Plains is the newest addition to the Sabi Sabi Game Reserve that borders Kruger National Park. Remarkably, it takes the safari to a whole new level of sophistication with a set up that comprises three unconventionally modern, even vaguely brutalist, exclusive use, four-suite villas. Each suite comes with a king-sized bed, private deck, lounge area, freestanding fireplace, double rain showers and a tub overlooking the surrounding bushland.
But its ace card is that, in an effort to protect that pristine scenery, the resort runs entirely off-grid using solar power. Moreover, all of their grey-water is recycled to lower consumption and the game drives are conducted in Land Cruiser safari vehicles that have been modified to run on solar-charged Tesla batteries.
The villas start at 6,000 USD a night, all inclusive.
