It seems wireless loudspeakers have finally come of age. Not only are these Theia speakers from Goldmund better than almost anything with a wire, but they also have a whopping 875 Watts of power and are great to look at, with some impressive sophistication under the surface too. Mind you, they are awfully expensive, at 300,000 USD for the pair.
Made from micro-blasted aluminium, with grilles constructed from brushed aluminium, they come with a suite of proprietary software that corrects for parameters like enclosure shape and soundwave diffraction at the edges, while also correcting for phase distortion, and eliminating vibrations and reducing resonance. As a result, frequency response ranges from 21 Hz to 25 kHz.
If Goldmund doesn’t mean much to you, know that they’re an ultra-high-end Swiss brand renowned for making the Apologue, an iconic loudspeaker with an unusual Z-frame exoskeleton that has the unique distinction of being selected for New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) since 1987. Big shoes to follow, sure, but Theia might just follow suit.
