You know what they say – location, location, location! Even though Chanel’s original Resort 2023 collection was first unveiled in the not so shabby principality of Monaco (back in May), the storied French brand decided to reproduce the show in November, this time in Miami, and it really did kick it up a notch.
Okay so the motivation for giving the collection another run was commercially driven rather than any attempt to perfect a shortcoming but we enjoyed the fashion show immensely and it was certainly a high point of this year’s calendar. “It is the best way to celebrate our customers. We cannot invite them all to Paris, or Monaco, or wherever, and it is important for us to be able to bring the collection to them and allow them to engage and connect with it,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, the president of Chanel’s fashion activities as well as its holding company.
Displayed at Faena Hotel Beach on a set designed by director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin, US-based VIPs, media and celebrities got to soak in the collection’s vibe, which conjures languorous, carefree summer days spent being exquisitely chic at the beach, pool, boat and tennis court. They’re beautiful looks, for a beautiful life.
