Even Purists Will Love Rolex's Colourful New Ombré Dials
August 1, 2019 admin

Four years after Rolex’s 40mm Day-Date got a new Calibre 3255 with improved power reserve, precision and resistance, it’s time for the smaller model to get the upgrade. That’s fantastic news for purists because, when it was introduced in 1956, the Day-Date was only available in a 36mm case, and to many it remains the best and most wearable size.

But Rolex didn’t just improve the innards, they also came up with some cool new colourways too, and collectors will love the return of ombré dials. There’s a green one on the yellow gold, blue on the white gold and brown on the everose. Each comes with eight brilliant cut and two baguette cut diamonds on their dial, and they cost between 32,000 and 35,000 USD. Want more sparkle? Then switch the fluted bezel for a gem-set one, or go for the fully iced 125,000 USD Rainbow model that combines diamonds and coloured sapphires.
